My journey began with a simple need: updating my profile photo for my resume. I turned to Canva's editor when the image I had didn't quite match the professional look I wanted. That's when I discovered the "Magic Editor in Beta." After uploading my photo, which showed me in a sweater, I decided to try out the "Magic Editor." Using a straightforward brushing technique, I highlighted the area I wanted to change and described that I wanted a “collar shirt” look.
Canva presented 4 options, and to be honest, not all of them resembled a shirt. It was almost as if my body contorted in one of the generated results. But one choice blended seamlessly into the photo, looking incredibly realistic. I chose that option, and the result amazed me—it made the new shirt appear as if it had always been in the original photo.
After successfully using Canva's Magic Editor to create the perfect shirt, I decided to take my look a step further. My focus turned to my hair, and I embarked on a playful experiment with Canva's AI to achieve the coveted "Pushed Back Slick Hair" style. As I eagerly awaited the results, I couldn't help but anticipate a dramatic transformation. However, to my amusement, the outcome wasn't drastically different from the original photo. However, there were two options that appeared to have a more salon-style and polished look. It turns out, even technology can't improve upon perfection! It's safe to say that my hair was already at its finest, and Canva's AI simply couldn't enhance what was already amazing.
Once I dipped my toes in, there was no turning back. The curiosity bug had bitten me, pushing me to test the waters and discover just how impressive things could get. My mission? To explore the capabilities of the Magic Editor and see its true potential in action. I decided to spruce up my trusty old Huawei P10! I gave the Magic Editor a whirl, attempting to transform my outdated device into the sleek illusion of an iPhone 14 Pro. The generated phone options were skewed and didn't quite resemble an iPhone 14. Why? Probably because the iPhone 14 Pro is still quite new on the block. There's not a ton of online images for the AI to learn from, so it's like trying to hit a bullseye blindfolded. To improve things, I took a more practical approach. I asked the AI to change my phone to just an "iPhone," and voilà – a major upgrade. The phone looked sharp, held at just the right angle (just like in the photo), and the blending of edges into the background was seamless. Check out the results and changes below!
